Memorial Day is fast approaching which means BBQ, parades and of course red, white and blue!  An easy way to incorporate a little patriotic pride is to make these super easy hair pins using nail polish and bobby pins!

First gather together all of the items you will need!  To make these pins, you will need bobby pins, a piece of cardboard or card stock, and a red, white and blue nail polish. For some extra fun, use a glitter as well!

Take the bobby pins and slide them onto the piece of cardboard.  This will help keep them in place while you paint them and make it easier.  Make sure the side you want to be painted is facing up!

It’s time to take your nail polish and paint the bobby pins!  Get as creative as you like, either doing all once color or mixing it up and making stripes by using small strokes of different shades!  Try to use polishes that will only require one coat so they dry quickly!

This step is if you want to add polka dots!  Take one bobby pin (unpainted)  and bend it into a 90 degree angle.  The beaded end is perfect for making a polka dot!  Then use an extra piece of cardboard or scrap paper and put a dot of nail polish on it.  Take the bent bobby pin, dip the end into the dot of polish and dab onto the bobby pins you are painting in any design you like!

Let your newly painted hair pins dry and then style however you like!  Use just one for a little accent or stack up as many as you like for a fun, Memorial Day look!

For Mamie’s look, 

To get this look you will need volumizing product, we like Aussie Aussome Volume Styling Mousse and the Prep-It Comb is perfect for teasing!

For Zoe’s Look, Sarah was inspired by Blondie superstar Debbie Harry’s two tone do, Sarah added color to give the style the perfect punk edge.

To get this look, you will need a temporary color. Sarah used Jerome Russell’s Temporary Highlight Spray in black and the “On Set” Styling Brush.Both ladies wore Cartier Jewelry.

For Jaime’s look, Sarah gathered inspiration from a fashion editorial shoot and topped the look off with a custom headpiece by Dauphines of New York.

To get this look, all you need is: Ceramic Styling Iron, shine enhancing gel, boar bristle brush, bobby pins, and a bold headpiece. For Emilia’s Look, Sarah gave her an undone, loose wave pulled into a more severe side swept style.

The Oscar’s brought out a variety of glamorous hairstyles on the red carpet. From modern to classic Hollywood glam and long locks to short chic crops! Let’s take a look at the leading ladies who caught our eye with their beautiful gowns and glorious hair do’s!
Zoe Saldana, Reese Witherspoon, and Jessica Chastain opted for the ever classic Hollywood set. Channeling Veronica Lake, each of these leading ladies looked perfectly poised while presenting awards to fellow celebs.

Charlize Theron stunned photogs and celebrities alike when she gracefully hit the red carpet sporting her cropped do and delicate make up. Anne Hathaway took home an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Fantine in “Les Miserables.” Halle Berry looked fierce in her trademark Faux Hawk hairstyle and her metallic Versace gown.

Amanda Seyfried rocked a fabulous Alexander McQueen gown with a classic pinned up do. Stacy Kiebler opted for a curly, modern, faux bob. Jennifer Lawrence, who took home the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, kept her look loose and elegantly pulled back into a low bun.

Other Up-Do’s we swooned over were from Amy Adams, Jennifer Garner, and Nicole Kidman.
