Julia Telles: Golden Globes 2015

The Golden Globes are always a glamorous affair with many different hair styles. This year I had the pleasure of working with Julia Telles, for her look I pulled inspiration from Old Hollywood Glam.

To achieve the glam waves:
1. Take a one inch section of hair and use your Beachwaver for the curls.
2. Roll each section up and pin in place.
3. Repeat until all of your hair is set.
4. After letting the curls set and cool, spray flexible hairspray on the On Set Styling Brush and brush into an S shape.
5. Style smoothly and tuck one side behind the ear for the finishing touch.

Julia looked stunning in her Carmen Marc Valvo gown for the awards ceremony. Congratulations to the cast of The Affair on their wins of the night!

Another great trip full of memories and fabulous hairstyles, until next time!

Henri Bendel Photoshoot

Photo shoots are always a blast, especially when ravishing Henri Bendel hair accessories are involved. I had so much fun getting to style the hair for this particular shoot. Some of the looks I decided to go with were; beachwaves, thanks to the Beachwaver Pro, I also went with a sleek low ponytail accompanied by a gorgeous metal headband.

Be sure to stay tuned for the finished product and check out the gorgeous Henri Bendel hair accessories!

Sarah styles: Miranda Cosgrove

I was so excited when I found out I'd be styling Miranda Cosgrove for Big Morning Buzz Live! I used the Beachwaver Pro on her to give her bouncy beachwaves. Miranda has been promoting her partnership with the NFL as the Tweens/Juniors Apparel brand ambassador. Her makeup was done by the amazing Kristin Hilton.

Selena Gomez: Sleek and Straight

This week, I styled the gorgeous Selena Gomez for the Adidas NEO Label Show during Spring Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week!

How to Get the Look:

First, brush out the hair with the On Set Styling Brush. Then, using Darby Clips divide hair into sections and start straightening the bottom and crown of with the Ceramic Styling Iron. For this look, I used the Mini Touch Up Iron to finish flat ironing the final sections in front. For a smooth finish, I used Aussie's Miraculously Smooth Anti-Frizz Cream. It creates a great shine. I always touch up flyaways on set with the Jet-Setter, which always comes in handy because it's so small, convenient and cordless!
Selena has such beautiful long dark hair and it was so fun styling it. I love New York Fashion Week and this was a great way to kick it off!
You can check out Selena's line of Adidas sneakers here.

Get the look: 1960's

In the 1960s, hair was high and eye makeup was dramatic. Women were dressing in psychedelic prints and mismatched patterns. The popular hairstyle was the beehive, which was created in 1960 by Chicago stylist Margaret Vinci Heldt. Editors at Modern Beauty Salon asked her to create a brand new hairstyle that would wow the beauty world. Inspired by a velvet fez that she owned, she created the beehive. I love this era and I had a blast recreating this iconic hairstyle!

How the Look was Achieved:

Step 1:The hair was curled with a large barrel curling Iron, like the Beachwaver Pro. The curls were left to set and cool.

Step 2: Backcomb, backcomb, backcomb! The hair was then backcombed using a ratting comb through the entire crown of the head. They kept backcombing until the hair was nice and high.

Step 3: Once the base or “rat” had been created, they would take sections from the front of the base and smooth them back over the top of the rat and create a beehive shape. The sections were intricately placed and pinned discretely.

Step 4: The hairstyle was then sprayed with TONS of hairspray.

1960's Makeup:

Nude lips, heavy dark mascara and false eyelashes were important where the go to look in the 1960s. The bottom lashes were often painted to look longer. Popular eye shadow colors included green, blue and purple and pastel colors like corals, pinks and peach were used on their cheeks.
